Characteristics	This product is colorless crystalline or white crystalline powder; odourless; Slightly wet. This product dissolved easily in water. Dissolved in ethanol.
Identification	Solution S (see Tests) gives the reactions of iodides.
	Solution S gives the reactions of potassium.
Acidity/Alkalinity	To 12.5 mL of solution S add 0.1 mL ofbromothymol blue solution R1. Not more than 0.5 mL of0.01 M hydrochloric acid is required to change the colour ofthe indicator.
Appearance of Solution	Solution S is clear  and colourless.
Thiosulfate and Barium	No turbidity develops within 1 min.
Iodide	Any color produced in the Sample solution does not exceed that produced in the Standard solution (Not more than 4 μg/g).
Nitrate,Nitrite and Ammonia	No blue coloration of the paper is discernible
Loss on drying	It loses Not more than1.0% of its weight.
Assay	99.0% and 101.5%
